10th Month Andrew

These are my favorite photos of Andrew. The back of his head seems less flat than a few months ago so we have faith that it will round out as he spends more time sitting and standing. The last picture is from my cell phone so the resolution is not the best.

10th Month Ethan

I hope you enjoy some of my favorite photos of Ethan. He now has 5 teeth and likes to pull up to stand.

10th Month part 1

This picture is one of the last we will have of the infant car seats. You can see Ethan's feet are hanging off the end already. We plan to buy convertible seats this month and then sell our infant seats and stroller at the Mothers of Multiples consignment sale at the end of the month. I also have other toys and lots of clothing to sell. Preparing for the sale will take me several hours. All the clothing has to be on hangers and then I pin an index card to the front with the description, price, and other details. I'm thankful that they won't grow out of clothes at this rate for the rest of their lives. We've already gone through 6 sizes.

Sunday, March 2, we enjoyed an afternoon at Nana and Papa McCoy's house. Andrew learned about the squirrel feeder and Ethan sat on top of a tree stump high off the ground.

They both enjoyed the new swings and hope to visit often.

Ethan says, "I can normally stand on my own if I'm holding onto the couch. I thought I was getting the hang of it. Why can't I separate my legs? Oh mama! Help me out."

Ethan and Andrew have reached the age where they want to make us laugh. They love to do silly things like wiggle. This video is a short segment of a couple wiggles. If I shake my head they will often copy but most of the time Ethan just starts wiggling on his own. I think he likes the different visual perspective it offers.

9th Month

Nine months have already past since we first met Andrew and Ethan (on left). They have their 9 month check up tomorrow. If you double click on the picture to view it larger, you can see Ethan's two bottom teeth. As of 2/21/08 Andrew weighs 17 1/2 pounds and is 27 1/2 inches long. Ethan weighs 18 pounds and is 28 inches long.

Ethan (on left) and Andrew both love to look in the mirror and touch their reflection. Peek-a-boo games are a great way to hear some giggles. Each night before bed I let them touch the mirror and then it's time to get in their crib. They play with some toys for a few minutes and then its lights out. I'm so thankful for all the great advice I have received about teaching them to sleep. They do very well.

Ethan has started to pull up on things. If I sit him in the right spot in his crib, he can stand up. The mattress will be lowered soon. Though he isn't crawling yet, it could happen any day now. He easily rolls over one time but hasn't discovered he can keep going. He has three teeth now and more following quickly.

Andrew's two bottom teeth have arrived which has brought a few cranky and needy days. He is such a darling boy. His laugh is very contagious. What a joy it is to see how simple things can make him laugh.

9th Month begins

Yes this is three sets of twin boys that are 8 months old! We attended a "droolers and crawler" playdate for moms of multiples with babies less than one year. What fun! Two sets of twins, 10 months old, also attended. What a comfort to visit with other moms that are going through the same things we are. I benefit greatly from being a part of the Moms of Multiples Club, CAMOMC.

Ethan and Andrew have a couple new firsts... The swings at Imagination Station in Collegedale are a big hit. Andrew giggles and giggles. I dare anyone that sees him not to laugh along with him. Unfortunately, it is difficult to hear Andrew on the video clip posted at the end of this blog.

Another first on January 28, 2008 is the boys tried finger foods for the first time. I stripped them down to diapers and let them try to eat smashed ripe bananas. Andrew couldn't get it in his mouth but loved eating it out of the mesh bag. Ethan is agile enough to eat it but then promptly gagged from the texture. Ethan did not like eating the banana out of the mesh bag. I'll try another food in the bag and see if he will suck it out.

Andrew is 8 months old

Today Andrew is 8 months old. He is 17 pounds, 2 ounces and 28 1/4 inches long. This morning I noticed that he is cutting his first tooth and he is definitely showing the typical symptoms. In the past couple days he has also learned how to sit without assistance and now enjoys standing.

He is attached to his pacifier and teddy blanket. Some say he is a mama's boy and of course, he does resembles me. In the second picture, he is watching a Baby Einstein video that is teaching them some basic sign language and is laughing at the puppets.

Andrew loves to giggle. He is easy going, patient, and loves to cuddle. I describe him as my textbook baby. The video will let you hear his laugh as he "pets" Sara, the McCoy's cat. How could anyone not laugh with him?

Ethan is 8 months old

Ethan is 8 months old today, January 21. He weighs a bit more than 17 pounds and is 29 inches long. He has one tooth and a small amount of light brown hair.

He wears 6-9 month clothing which probably will be too tight before the next month is through. Now that he can sit and stand well, laying down is too boring.

He still prefers not to lay on his stomach so no signs of crawling. While he's sitting, he reaches for objects that are just outside his reach. Ethan's favorite activity is bouncing on a knee or the big green ball.

He is more dexterous than Andrew and can pick up small objects. His arms are often held straight out as shown in the last picture. He does this even while we feed him.

Aunt Lisa visits

We had the pleasure of Aunt Lisa visiting us from Colorado. I enjoyed helping her celebrate her birthday at the Tea House.

She taught the boys about bouncing or "ride the pony." It is now a very common activity in this house.
The boys are a lot more interactive and about 11 pounds heavier than the last time she held them.

Meal Time

Here's Mama feeding the boys on 1/3/08 and Andrew (on the right) is telling her to hurry up! It takes skill to keep two little mouths full.

Ethan is trying some baby banana puffs for the first time. They are supposed to dissolve in their mouths. The texture was quite a surprise as you can see. Just after this video, Ethan gagged and threw up all his food. Guess we'll have to wait on the puffs for a while.

8th Month part 1

Andrew and Ethan love to eat anything we give them. They even beg for our food. Ethan is quite a neat eater, especially in comparison to Andrew. Andrew has peaches up to his eyebrow because he blows bubbles with the food. Oh what a mess! Not one of my favorite things.

Ethan is cutting his first tooth today, December 30. It is on the bottom left and is a sharp little thing. Lots of drool and chewing but not too much crankiness. Ethan's development is jumping ahead of Andrew. He loves to stand and is sitting on his own with a bit of help from time to time. This opens up a new world for him. The old toys are interesting again from this vantage point.

Andrew is trying to ride the big truck but can't reach the ground with his feet. Oh well, the truck can park and wait for a few more inches.

We enjoyed a visit from Great Granny and Grandpa Zumstein on the second. They wanted to show Granny all their tricks. They show great pride in their accomplishments, Andrew when he rolls over and Ethan when he stands.

Christmas with McCoys and Walters

Yes the Santa suits are cute but they are just too hot. Andrew sure was intent on ripping the paper to shreds. He still grabs a hold of things with a fist but is discovering that he can touch things with open palm.

Ethan preffered this bag over the toys and books that he received. The handles made for a good chew toy and he could get in it too. Papa sure is patient and creative with the boys. He is good at explaining all the little things that I take for granted like water coming out of the faucet.

Andrew loves to cuddle with Nana. But watch out! He'll grab your face or hair.

Christmas day we visited Aunt Lezlee and Uncle Dale's house to have pizza with the Walters. They are growing so fast but they have a long way to go to fit into a big boy recliner. Ethan sure enjoyed the teething biscuit that Aunt Lezlee found for him. What a yummy though slurpy mess!

Christmas portraits

I thought you might enjoy some of these photos. Ethan sure likes to stand. The next three photos Ethan is on the left. Enjoy!
