14th Month

Andrew likes to drive the Tonka truck back and forth in the living room. He needs help turning the corners so he lets me know when he reaches the end of the road. He uses sign language movements more during the past week but only mimicking us. I hope he will start using them on his own. Communication can be so powerful.

On Tuesday we went to the Imagination Station park in Collegedale. They swing and even slid on the baby slide for the first time. This is the first time we've been to this park since they started crawling. They enjoyed exploring the wood chips and the noise they can make on the metal slide. It has a large fenced area for the small children so I could let them have some freedom.

This picture was taken at Sabbath School. When we first started attending, I couldn't imagine what they were getting out of it. It was a lot of work for us to stand up and carry them to the board, etc. The songs are not very fun for us either. Now that they are crawling and a year old, the boys like going to class. Even if they are tired, which is normal since it's during nap time, they enjoy the activities, songs, and decorations. It is worth the effort to attend.

July 4th

We invited some friends to the Crawford's dock for the afternoon of July 4th. We enjoyed time on the wave runners, kiddie pool, and picnic together. What a relaxing and rejuvenating event! For those that were able to share some time with us, we enjoyed your company.
Andrew and Ethan have ridden the wave runners with their daddy a couple times now. Though they are silent on the ride, we're sure they love it since they complain when they have to get off. We made them wear sunglasses this time to keep the wind from bothering their eyes. They normally tear them off quickly but this time thankfully kept them on. For those that are worried, they are safely tucked between David's legs with his arms on either side of them. The life jacket makes them bulkier and keeps them snugly in place.

July 3rd in Collegedale

We joined our church group in Collegedale at Veteran's Park for the Independence Day festivities. We started with a picnic and enjoyed spending time with friends that we don't see often. The boys enjoyed watermelon and even a bit of ice cream from daddy. The highlight of Andrew's evening may have been petting a puppy dog. Since the boys are more mobile, we had to keep our eyes open all the time. We would find Ethan making a bee line for someones plate or to check out a babies car seat.
I'm so thankful that our children love to read. Brandon (3) and Nathaniel (4 1/2) joined Andrew and I while we read. We left at 8:30 so missed most of the concert and fireworks. I think we'll wait until next year to let them stay up late and see what fireworks are.
